Picart opens a new manufacturing plant

Coinciding with our 70th anniversary, we have just opened a new facility in Llinars del Vallès.

You probably already know us, but we like to remember and share our history and path with you. We are a company specialising in the manufacture and commercialisation of animal food , especially dogs and cats. Founded in 1953, Piensos Picart S.A. We offer a wide range of high quality, nutritious products for the care and well-being of our little friends. Throughout these 70 years of history, Picart has grown from a family business to become a national brand with international projection, mainly in Europe and the Mediterranean area.

A historic opening

Now, in 2023, we are celebrating another milestone on our journey. Piensos Picart opens a new production plant in Llinars del Vallès, with 12,000 m² and a production capacity of up to 40,000 tonnes per year, tripling the production capacity of our company. The new facilities, which replace those in Sant Pere de Vilamajor, have been designed with sustainability and efficiency criteria in mind.

The event

November 16th was the day chosen to present the new plant to our customers, friends, collaborators and authorities. We had the presence of Oriol Alcoba, General Director of Industry of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and Martí Pujol, Mayor of Llinars del Vallès.

Joan Icart, CEO of Picart, touched us with a phrase with which we feel very identified: we know that our customers feed their furry friends as if they were their children, one more of the family, and we are aware of the responsibility that this involves.

Commitment to the quality and the environment

Picart’s new production plant is a sign of dedication to lead the animal care industry, always committed to innovation and respect for the environment.

These new facilities are designed to minimise our carbon footprint. From reducing electricity consumption to prioritising the use of natural gas as a fuel and generating 70% of our energy through solar panels, we are reducing 280 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

Picart’s new facility is equipped with the latest generation technology that guarantees a significant improvement in the quality and safety of our products. We incorporate an new system of exhaustive traceability of the manufacturing process that makes us much more efficient and ensures the high quality of our products.

Energy Efficiency and Workplace Environment

Committed to energy efficiency in the new facilities, we use exclusively LED luminaires, the halls are thermally insulated and the energy systems are optimised for efficiency. We maintain ergonomic standards for a comfortable and respectful working environment.
