Aware of the emergency situation caused by the DANA in Valencia, which has affected both people and their furry friends, Picart has made a donation of 6,880 kg of specialised food to support the Protectora de Perros San Antonio Abad de Valencia (SPASAV). This donation, valued at 41,666 euros, has been made possible thanks to the collaboration of our distributor in the area, Silla Comercial Veterinaria, S.L., and is destined for the animals rescued after the floods.
After the devastating rains, we know that many of our four-legged companions have been rescued in difficult conditions. According to data from the Asociación Protectora de Animales de Valencia, more than 500 animals including dogs, cats and small mammals have been saved and are now in shelters and animal protection centres which, due to the emergency situation, have been overwhelmed. This donation aims to alleviate that burden and provide immediate support in the form of nutritious and specialised food.
Specialised food for dogs and cats
Our donation includes products from the SELECT DIET range, a line specially formulated to address health problems, such as gastrointestinal problems in dogs and kidney problems in cats. Specifically, the shipment, which left by truck for Valencia on Monday 11 November, contains:
• 4,400kg Select DIET Gastrointestinal, designed to help dogs that may have ingested contaminated food or water due to flooding. This food facilitates digestion and is ideal for those animals that are in the process of gastrointestinal recovery.
• 2.480 kg of Select DIET Cat Renal, a formula designed to meet the specific renal needs of cats, a condition that is aggravated by stress and adverse circumstances such as those experienced in recent days.
Our commitment to animal welfare
At Picart, we consider it essential to support animal shelters and animals that have suffered the consequences of this situation. That is why we wanted to provide such an essential resource as specific food, which will help these animals to recover. We know that proper nutrition makes a difference in their welfare, and we are proud to know that we can collaborate in their recovery process together with SPASAV and Silla Comercial Veterinaria.
