We are proud to share that Picart has been awarded the Excellence award for family trajectory and commitment to quality in the manufacture of food for animal welfare, a recognition that encourages us to continue offering the best in food for furry animals.
This prize, awarded at the 4th Edition of the Catalonia 2024 Awards organised by the newspaper La Razón, represents a milestone in our history of more than 70 years. Our CEO, Joan Icart, was in charge of receiving the award at an event held at the emblematic headquarters of Foment del Treball in Barcelona.
Recognition of our history and commitment
Since our beginnings in 1953, when Pere Icart founded Piensos Picart in Sant Pere de Vilamajor, our company has evolved from the production of feed for farm animals to become a benchmark in premium pet nutrition. This path has been possible thanks to the effort and vision of several generations of the Icart family, who have been committed to innovation, sustainability and quality as fundamental pillars.
The transition towards pet food, led by Joan Icart Clos at the beginning of the 21st century, marked a before and after in our trajectory. With the birth of Picart Petcare, we consolidated our focus on the well-being of dogs and cats, offering products designed with natural ingredients and carefully selected by veterinary experts and nutritionists.
Innovation, Sustainability and Animal Welfare
At Picart, we strive to create products that not only nourish, but also contribute to the well-being of our four-legged friends and care for the environment. Our factory in Llinars del Vallès, inaugurated in 2023 after an investment of 20 million euros, is a reflection of this commitment. With 70% of its energy consumption covered by solar panels and collaboration with local suppliers, we work to reduce our carbon footprint while ensuring the highest quality in each of our products. This focus on sustainability and quality has enabled us to meet the growing demands of consumers seeking healthy, customised food for their pets.
A look into the future
The award not only celebrates our past, but also motivates us to look forward. Since our first export to Greece in 2013, we have expanded our presence to more than 20 countries, bringing our premium food solutions to households around the world. Now, we aim to strengthen our position in international markets, with a special focus on Latin America, where we have already taken the first steps in Cuba and Chile. In addition, we continue to work to diversify our offering with new product lines, including superpremium foods, specific diets, snacks and wet food, adapting to the changing needs of the market and our consumers.
