At Picart, we are deeply grateful to the On Economía team for giving us the opportunity to participate in such a complete and enriching interview. This opportunity has allowed us to share in more detail our plans for growth and expansion, as well as the strategies we are implementing to remain a benchmark in the pet food industry. For us, as a family business with more than 70 years of history, it is essential to be able to transmit our vision and commitment to innovation, sustainability and quality.

The interview

During the interview with our CEO, Joan Icart, published by On Economía, discussed key issues about the future of Picart and how we are facing the challenges and opportunities of today’s market. Here are some of the highlights:

1. Production expansion and new factory in Llinars del Vallès: One of the main topics discussed was the recent expansion of our facilities, which will allow us to reach a production capacity of 40,000 tonnes per year. This improvement in our infrastructure is a key step to increase our competitiveness at a global level, and positions us solidly for growth in international markets.

2.Continuous innovation: Joan Icart highlighted that we are in the process of reformulating our main product lines, such as Nutribest and Select, to adapt to new consumer demands and improve the nutritional quality of our products. In addition, we have invested in technology and partnerships with nutrition experts to ensure that our formulas are as beneficial as possible for pet health.

3. International growth: In the interview, it was mentioned how we are strengthening our presence in key markets such as France, Portugal and Italy, with a view to further expanding in the South American market. We are already present in countries such as Chile and Cuba, and we continue to work to find new distributors in places such as Costa Rica and Peru. This effort is part of our strategy to increase our market share outside Spain, while maintaining our focus on quality.

4. Sustainability and family legacy: Joan Icart also emphasised the company’s commitment to responsible growth. Over the years, we have maintained the family values that have defined Picart since its foundation in 1953. We are convinced that these values will continue to be fundamental in ensuring the continuity and success of the company in the hands of the next generation.

5. Market trends: Another relevant topic was the discussion on current trends in pet food, such as the humanisation of pets and the impact this has on the industry. Our CEO, Joan Icart also spoke about the importance of proper nutrition for animal health, highlighting our specific formulas to treat pathologies such as urinary and renal problems in cats and dogs.
