At Picart, quality is more than an obligation; it is an unalterable commitment to our customers and their pets. From our Quality Department, we strive daily to ensure that every bag leaving our facilities meets the most rigorous standards of safety and excellence. Our mission is to offer products that not only meet but exceed the expectations of our customers and their furry companions.
Quality control at Picart is not a final process but an integrated part of every production phase:
Ingredient Management (Raw Materials)
Upon the arrival of ingredients, we conduct a series of analytical, documentary, and visual inspections to ensure their quality. First, a visual inspection is carried out to detect the presence of dirt or insects, systematically rejecting any ingredient that does not meet our criteria.
Next, we control nutritional parameters such as protein, moisture, ash, fiber, and fats, ensuring that each batch offers the exact nutritional profile we require. We also perform microbiological analyses to ensure our products are free from pathogenic microorganisms like Enterobacteria and Salmonella, thus ensuring food safety for pets and guaranteeing the integrity of the feed.
All the information from the analyses is stored in the integrated production management system, which has the limits established by Quality. When a product is not within these limits, it is marked in red and its download is blocked, preventing its use.
Processing and Manufacturing (Extrusion)
During manufacturing, besides ensuring that the composition is correct, we monitor parameters such as the shape, color, moisture, and density of the kibble. These aspects are crucial to guarantee the product’s palatability and proper preservation, as well as to ensure that production volumes are appropriate during the packaging process. Moisture is measured using drying scales in combination with NIR technology analytical systems, while density is obtained volumetrically.
Packaging and Final Product
Once the product is manufactured, each batch is inspected to ensure it meets our standards. Before bagging, the bags are visually inspected to detect any printing or design defects. Additionally, legal texts and advertising claims are verified to ensure compliance with current legislation.
Future
With the goal of continuous improvement, Picart plans to incorporate IFS Food certification in the coming months, which will allow us to establish criteria for continuous improvement to always offer the best service and quality to our customers. At Picart, quality is not just a word but the fundamental principle guiding every decision and action we take. The safety and satisfaction of our furry companions are our top priority.
