However, <strong>some dogs may be sensitive to gluten and experience digestive and health problems.<\/strong><br>Cats, on the other hand, are strict carnivores, which means they need a diet rich in meat. Their digestive system does not process vegetables as well as that of dogs, and <strong>although gluten intolerance is less common in cats, it can occur.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Symptoms of Gluten Intolerance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dogs and cats that are sensitive to gluten may suffer from the following symptoms:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Inflammatory disturbances of the small intestine<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Weight loss<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Poor and dull coat<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chronic diarrhoea<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vomiting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Poor general state of health<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Diagnosis and treatment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you suspect that your dog or cat has a gluten intolerance, a visit to your vet is essential for any discomfort. The vet can perform specific tests and recommend an appropriate diet to manage the intolerance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Differences between \u2018Gluten Free\u2019 and \u2018Grain Free\u2019 food<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important not to mix these concepts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gluten Free\u2019 feed<\/strong><br>Products labelled as \u2018gluten free\u2019 do not contain gluten in their composition.
